“Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.”
Recovering the breathtaking scope of the biblical gospel — the eternal purpose of God, the finished work of Christ, and the grace that moves toward us before we ever think to seek Him.
What You'll Find Here
The Biblical Gospel Project (TBGP) is a teaching and publishing work devoted to tracing the gospel through the whole of Scripture with Jesus Christ at the center. We seek to reveal the eternal purpose of God, the salvation accomplished for humanity in Christ as our Federal Head, and the astonishing breadth and depth of divine grace. Our desire is not simply to explain what the Bible says, but to help its great truths come alive — so that the gospel is seen in its fullness and the character of God shines through every study.
Our approach is shaped by the biblical witness itself:
Precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.
— Isaiah 28:10
Comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
— 1 Corinthians 2:13
They are they which testify of me.
— John 5:39
The light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
— 2 Corinthians 4:6
We believe the Bible is not a collection of disconnected religious statements, but one extraordinary, unfolding revelation of God's eternal purpose in Jesus Christ. A truth introduced in Genesis may be developed in the Psalms and Prophets, fulfilled in the life and sacrifice of Christ, and explained in the writings of the apostles. As Jesus Himself demonstrated, Moses and the prophets bear witness to Him (Luke 24:27). Each passage contributes to the whole, and the whole helps illuminate each passage.
We go beneath the surface of the English text to listen carefully to Scripture in its original Hebrew and Greek. We examine vocabulary, verb forms and aspect, tense, prepositions, syntax, literary structure, historical context, and the patterns that connect the biblical books. We trace promises, covenants, symbols, themes, and theological movements across the canon — allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture while respecting what each passage says in its own setting.
This depth is not pursued merely for academic interest. A Hebrew expression, a Greek preposition, the force of a verb, or a connection between passages written centuries apart may bring familiar words into fresh focus. Yet we know that understanding Scripture requires more than intellectual investigation. We approach God's Word with reverence, prayer, and dependence upon the Holy Spirit, who opens our understanding to its testimony.
At the heart of TBGP is the conviction that the deepest study of Scripture should lead to the clearest revelation of the character of God — a God who initiates salvation, gives before He asks, seeks before He is sought, acts in Christ before our response, and surrounds the human story with grace from eternity past to final restoration.
Bringing together biblical languages, careful exegesis, canonical theology, typology, covenant structure, and pastoral teaching, we aim to make substantial study accessible to individual readers, Bible students, churches, and small groups alike.
Our aim is to open the Scriptures in such a way that Christ becomes larger, grace becomes more astonishing, the gospel becomes more beautiful, and the character of God is seen more clearly — better than you ever imagined.
